Mike Rowe Gives Advice To Students: “Never Follow Your Passion” — peoples trust toronto

Mike Rowe has some truthiness for those students who are “following their passion” without possessing the skills necessary to accomplish what they’re trying to do. “You’ve all been given some terrible advice, and that advice is this: follow your passion.” The former host of Dirty Jobs tells it like it is by explaining to students […]

Work of the Week #8

A Thoul “traditional song”…

Called the “Worker’s Song,” it is, and has been, primarily sung by Breykarian miners on their way to work and while working.  The English transliteration is not very special, but the Thoul version is meant to sound as if the worker singing it starts off jolly and fresh and ends all tired and beat.

>>English:

To work we go, to work we go.
To work we go, to work we go.
To work we go, to work we go.
We work today.
We work hard, we work hard.
We work hard, we work hard.
We work hard, we work hard.
To earn our life.
We work the day, we work the day.
We work the day, we work the day.
We work the day, we work the day.
To feed our families.
To home we come, to home we come.
To home we come, to home we come.
To home we come, to home we come.
After another long day.
So we can do it all again tomorrow.

Work of the Week #3

Primary literary work in the book Pathallea.

It’s called the Warrior Poem, and in Thoul goes thus:

warrior poem

In English…:

From plains we come, to fields we go.

With strength of heart, body and soul.

And know no fear, as we come near.

And feel our wrath, our swords and our spears.

Armed and armoured, we fight with our might.

Today we fight, we fight tonight.

We fight as one, we fight as all.

And never will you make us all fall.

We charge, we roar, we shake the ground.

To a common end, our hopes can be found.

We will fight to the death, and make trophies of you.

It’s for love and for life, you’ll see what we’d do.

If you come from above, we will take to the skies.

You cannot take our pride, nor our will to survive.

If darkness falls, we will burn up the night.

Today we fight, we fight tonight.

(May we have the grace of a thousand horses, the might of a thousand hammers, and the legacy of a thousand kings)

Cheers!  🙂

Update…

University is in full swing, and with this new work-load you’ve certainly noticed my sheer lack of activity here.

That’ll continue for, I think, at least another month.

In other news, Pathallea‘s about ready to see a professional editor.  Someone who edits sci-fi/fantasy novels is best.

Anyone of such profession out there in the World?  If so, then I’d like to hear from you!
